THE BOXING RING (2016)
Ongoing performance, executed twice and each time resulting in four drawings.
I made The Boxing Ring for an exhibition that me and my classmates organised in GEMAK (The Hague) as the conclusion of our third year. Here I did one of my first attempts to more directly implement my own body into my work. I overcome the shame for my slightly different moving figure and expose the inconvenience of its vulnerability in a performance of two hours in a square in the middle of the exhibition space. On this battle ground I produce four drawings while standing, walking, sitting and lying down, using my hands and even my feet and my mouth.
Result of the first execution of the performance (03 - 06 - 2016).
Chalk and blackboard paint on wood, 122 x 61,1 cm.
Result of the second execution of the performance (03 - 06 - 2016).
Chalk and blackboard paint on wood, 122 x 61,1 cm.
